Regulators

All regulators require annual servicing to comply with the manufacturers warranty. Failure to do so can drastically reduce both the effectiveness and working life of the regulator. It may also increase future servicing costs due to excessive corrosion. Our technicians have completed manufacturers training courses on the regulators we service and being dealers for ALL the major brands we can cover every eventuality. The lead engineer at our service centres has over 15 years servicing experience on SCUBA equipment and is an ASSETT (Association of Scuba Service Engineers & Technicians) Advanced Technician.

The Service Process

During a service the regulator is stripped to its component parts and cleaned in an Oxygen clean ultra-sonic bath. The parts are then inspected and reassembled using only oxygen compatible lubricants and manufacturer supplied kits. The service then involves setting the regulator up on a Magnahelic test bench to precisely set the breathing resistance of the second stage. As a final check all regulators are then given an in-water test.

UK regulations stipulate that scuba tanks have a visual inspection every 2.5 years and hydrostatic test every 5 years. They must also display a green diamond and "breathing air" markings. If tanks are used by "divers at work" (i.e. Divemasters, Instructors) they should also have black/white quadrants painted on the collar.
